ThyssenKrupp Elevator has won contracts to supply passenger boarding bridges, escalators and moving walks at both a new airport in China and a new terminal in Colombia.
Firstly, the supplier has won the contract to install 77 passenger boarding bridges, 98 escalators and 34 moving walks for the new Kunming Changshui International Airport in China.
Scheduled to open in early 2012 with a 550,000sqm terminal, the new Kunming Changshui International Airport will serve as a major hub between South Asia and Europe and will be able to handle up to 38mppa – making it China’s fourth largest airport after Beijing, Guangzhou and Shanghai.
Meanwhile, the group will also supply 39 elevators, 20 escalators, 16 moving walks and 33 passenger boarding bridges for a new terminal at Bogota Eldorado International Airport in Colombia.
The country’s largest airport is also one of the busiest in Latin America and is currently operating at its capacity limit at more than 18mppa.
The new terminal for national and international flights, scheduled for completion in 2014, is intended to increase its capacity.
