Munich unveils video information stations

A number of ‘InfoGates’ have been installed around Munich Airport to help passengers get their bearings and find their way around the airport.

At the InfoGate, passengers can be connected, in real time, via videoconference with an information service representative.

The airport said: “With the new technology passengers will now be able to obtain quick and detailed information in areas of the airport where there was previously no opportunity for face-to-face contact with an information service representative.”

Six InfoGates have been positioned landside and airside in the airport, in addition to another 17 Interactive InfoGates which are positioned at key crossroads throughout the terminals.

In addition, passengers can request custom–made directions to their gate, which will take them past certain shops or restaurants en route.

They will be shown the quickest way to their destination on an animated map of the airport building, and the system will also work out the distance, the estimated walking time as well as the anticipated waiting time at passport control and security.
