Helsinki Airport’s ongoing upgrade continues with the opening of a revamped shopping area and new border control kiosks equipped with biometric technology.
The new border control facilities, designed for use by EU and Swiss citizens holding a biometric passport, are expected to significantly enhance the gateway’s processing capacity.
According to Helsinki Airport director, Juha-Pekka Pystynen, the introduction of the new kiosks marks a major step toward the gateway’s ambition of becoming a modern, service-oriented airport.
“The user-friendly kiosks speed up travel, especially for flights between Europe and Asia. Holders of biometric passports no longer need to join the queues carrying out conventional passport control checks,” says Pystynen.
